crock pot style.

When ever I make a ham I always take the butt end of it.. and start some Lima beans or Black Eye Peas.
I hope you enjoy this easy.. protein packed recipe.

Ingredients:
one bag of uncooked Black Eye Peas.
one large WHITE onion
Ham or Pork Hocks
one and a half cups of distilled water
one fresh sprig of thyme
two bay leaves
one teaspoon Mrs. Dash original seasoning
one teaspoon onion powder
two large heaping Tablespoons of jarred chopped garlic
two teaspoons of fresh cracked pepper
two teaspoons seasoning salt by lawreys. ( I actually use this stuff called BUCKS seasoning my father in law sends me from Upstate new york.) but seasoning salt is second best.
DIRECTIONS:
Add all the ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil after washing black eye peas in colander and draining.
when boiling reduce to med simmer for 15 min.
Transfer all the ingredients to a crock pot and allow to cook at least four to five hours on high. then reduce to low for another hour or so.

Serve over fresh warm corn bread or bread on the side. your choice. we like it right on top of the corn bread fresh from the oven.
